are close friends who just so happen to be among the world’s most dangerous assassins. After spending years killing people, all four of them retire.
Donnie retires because of old age.
Tony retires because he grew bored and decided he wants to do something else with his life
Iko retires because he lost the nerve to kill people and is implied to be suffering from PTSD.
Rinko retires because she had a shift in her morals and realized what she was doing was wrong.
A few days after they retire, Donnie inherits an orphanage that his brother used to run. He takes it over and enlists Tony, Iko, and Rinko to help him out, despite their skill set obviously not including childcare. So a good portion of the movie is the four of them trying to bond with the kids, being the parents they never had.
Of course, the Big Bads come in. The villains, a mob that Donnie used to work jobs for, tells him that one of the kids they’re caring for is the runaway daughter of a rival mob. The head mob boss demands that the four of them give the girl up or else they burn the orphanage down.
In typical action movie style, all four former assassins tells the mob to fuck off, leading to a stand-off between the four of them and the big bad mob. Really straightforward plot but that doesn’t mean it won’t be fun.
To end the post, I thought I’d cast the other main characters:
1) Zendaya as the runaway daughter who Donnie, Iko, Tony, and Rinko have to protect. Technically, she’s the main focus of the movie.
10) Winona Ryder as one of Zendaya’s teachers who helps the four former assassins in taking care of the orphans. She is also Donnie Yen’s love interest.
